William Bowman honored by Selma Mayor for work in the community
William H. Bowman, President and C.E.O. of VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE Organization Inc. was honored for overcoming a visual impairment and starting a non-profit to help other citizens in Selma and Dallas County.
The mission of the organization is to help those with a visual disability lead a productive life.
Bowman and V.I.P. has done this by sponsoring the Low Vision Conferences and Assistive Technology Expos. The latest conference was held on January 18, 2012.
Selma Mayor George Evans says, "William will not take no for an answer. He keeps working and keeps talking until someone listens to him. You may as well listen the first time because he will come back to you again and again. He could have given up but he keeps going and we appreciate his work. Bowman has helped folks in Selma and Dallas County."
